Abstract:
The medicinal applications of benzopyrone derivatives span diverse therapeutic areas, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective agents. Moreover, their role in addressing chronic diseases like cardiovascular disorders and neurodegenerative conditions has gained considerable attention. This review highlights the promising results from in vitro and in vivo studies, showcasing the potential of benzopyrone compounds in preclinical and clinical settings. Furthermore, the safety profiles, bioavailability, and pharmacokinetics of benzopyrone derivatives are critical aspects of their development as medicinal agents. Research efforts have also been directed towards addressing these challenges to ensure their successful translation into clinical practice. The design and synthesis of benzopyrone compounds offer a compelling avenue for the development of novel pharmaceuticals with diverse medicinal applications.
