Abstract:
The Thar Desert, located in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent, harbors a diverse array of flora with significant medicinal properties. Among these, Balanites aegyptiaca (desert date) and Maytenus emarginata (Indian sweet spurge) have been traditionally used by indigenous communities for various therapeutic purposes. This paper explores the medicinal potential of these two plants, focusing on their phytochemical composition, pharmacological properties, and traditional uses. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature, we aim to highlight the importance of these plants as potential sources for novel drug discovery and pharmaceutical development.
