Advances in sensor design, computing power, and artificial intelligence have paved the way for smart assistive living systems that can significantly enhance the lives of individuals, especially older adults. With the increasing desire for aging in place, it is essential to develop systems that monitor the health status of older adults, detect emergencies, and notify healthcare providers promptly. This paper presents an improved version of a floor-based monitoring system, referred to as the "smart carpet," originally designed to detect falls.
