Abstract:
Herbal bioactives offer immense therapeutic potential; however, their clinical application is frequently hampered by poor aqueous solubility and erratic bioavailability. This study explores formulation innovations that leverage natural polymers to enhance the dissolution of herbal bioactives through strategic interactions with phytoconstituents. By employing various approaches—including solid dispersions, nanoparticulate systems, and inclusion complexation—we demonstrate that natural polymers not only improve the wettability and dissolution rate of these compounds but also protect them from environmental degradation. In vitro dissolution studies reveal a marked improvement in the solubility profiles of selected herbal actives, suggesting that biopolymer-phytoconstituent interactions could serve as a promising platform for developing effective and sustainable herbal formulations.
