Probiotics play a crucial role in maintaining gut health and offering therapeutic benefits. However, their viability is significantly challenged by environmental conditions such as gastric acidity, bile salts, and temperature variations. Microencapsulation technology has emerged as an effective strategy to enhance the stability, survivability, and targeted delivery of probiotics in the gastrointestinal tract. This paper explores various microencapsulation techniques, materials, and their effectiveness in optimizing probiotic delivery. Additionally, the study highlights the challenges and future directions in the field of microencapsulated probiotics.
