HANDLING UNDER WATER IMAGES USING DIFFERENT DATA ENHANCEMENT METHODS

Abstract:
ABSTRACT As underwater photography technology advances, the underwater imaging technique has become indispensable. Five procedures were applied to the underwater photographs for this study: white balance, dehazing contrast enhancement, CLAHE, global and local contrast enhancement, linear fusion, and the Gaussian Pyramid fusion method. The results of these several methods are compared using the Underwater Colour Image Quality Evaluation (UCIQE) method. UCIQE can compute a score for each of the different outputs. Better underwater image processing outcomes are indicated by a higher score. Based on the results, the Gaussian Pyramid fusion method has the highest UCIQE score, suggesting that it is the most efficient way to retrieve the underwater photographs.
